Taxi service in Lahti?

Post by Moose18 » Mon Apr 27, 2009 7:26 pm

Hi, I'm Abi. :)
I wasn't too sure where to post this, so I hope here is okay!
Basically I was hoping for a little help. Myself and 8 of my friends are traveling from England to Finland in a couple of weeks to camp in a nice place called Oksjarvi (my boyfriends parents own some land there.)
The plan is to catch a plane from Manchester to Helsinki airport, then stay the night in a hotel. The next day, we're going to catch a train from Helsinki to Lahti... but then I'm lost :P I'm really not too sure how to get from Lahti to Oksjarvi, as none of my group drives. Does anybody know the area well enough to let me know any information about buses that could get us there? Or even the number of a taxi service in Lahti?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I would look on this page :

http://www.taksilahti.com/palvelut.php

price for taxi is about 5/9 € (evening, night) plus about 1 € a kilometer, you should look on a routeplanner how far it is.

ofcourse not in english :( but the phone nr. is clear and they must speak english there. They also have small busses so you do not miss eachother.

It's 107Km form Lahti to Oksjärvi.

Thank you so much :) it's especially helpful to know how much it'll cost (round abouts.) I'm not sure exactly which lake it is... I pretty much leave the geography to Aleksi. But €120 between the lot of us sounds okay :)
I'll give the taxi company a call later, and just pray they speak English lol. I'm in the process of learning Finnish but I'm appalling so far.
Anyway, thank you all for your help!

I wouldn't count on that you can fit in 1 cab with all your baggage.

A regular taxi takes four passengers and a minibus/taxi takes eight which is a shame as there's nine of you, but give them a call there's a good chance they may have some bigger minibuses to.
It is what it is, make of it what you will.
