car insurance increased this year?

Post by travelfish » Tue Apr 28, 2009 9:53 am

I got my 10-year-old corolla last May and bought the insurance from IF for the first time. The insurance includes Liikennevakuutus 422.58 euros without any bonus and the Autovakuutus 85.25 euros. Just a few days ago I got the bill for the new insurance with 10% bonus for the Liikennevakuutus. But the price is even higher than last year!

The new bill is: Liikennevakuutus 486.96*(1-10%)=438.26 euros and the Autovakuutus inceased to 101.28 euros.

I have calculated the price using the online calculator of IF before two weeks and it shows that I should pay around 380 euros for the Liikennevakuutus, but it goes up to 438 euros in the bill. Unfortunately , the online calculator doesn't work at the moment.

I am just wondering whether the car insurance in Finland has increased during the last year or I just got a big bill.

How about doing it the old fashioned way and calling them, like?
"By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes."

online calculator doesn't take ALV into account..
Moreover, Its just for approximation..
Did you get other insurances bunched to get more discounts?

I dialed the service number and it is clear - the internet discount is only for new custumers! So, I have to pay 438 euros, almost 50 more! I checked other companies, the prices are all around 430 euros. I decide to move the insurance to another company and then come back next year - that's much cheaper than if I only stay at IF.

Does IF want to get new customers or push old ones outside, or just improve the floating of custerms

I strongly suggest you to take offers from different companies (if you didn't already). There would be huge differences between the prices. I changed my company and saved more than 300 euro/year in car+traffic insurance, which have exactly the same coverage!

which IMHO is not so surprising if the insurance market is more or less stable
