We are looking for motivated immigrants from certain language backgrounds to develop the Infopankki.fi Web service with us

The Infopankki (‘Info Bank’) Web service provides immigrants with useful information in 15 languages. We are currently updating the service to better suit the users’ needs. We are currently looking to reinforce our existing Infopankki User's Panel Infopankki by looking for one Arabic, one Somali, one 'Serbocroatian' and one Albanian speaker in part time positions. The User's Panel consists of fifteen (15) immigrants with different linguistic backgrounds. The panel members are asked to evaluate the current content of the site, to provide ideas for new content, and to participate in testing the user-friendliness of the Web service. The panel will mainly operate in Finnish or English with both oral and written input. Some of the work involved will be performed independently by the members, but occasionally they will be requested to participate in meetings, group discussions, and interviews in Helsinki. An Internet discussion group will be set up for discussions between the panel members.

We are looking for women and men, aged 16 to 60+, with Arabic, Somali, 'Serbocroatian' and Albanian language backgrounds, of different personal circumstances and reasons for coming to Finland. Minimum requirements include personal experience in using Infopankki.fi, a motivation to develop the Web service, and new ideas on how to develop information services aimed at immigrants. Strong commitment as well as active participation are expected of panel members.

The panel has been launched during summer 2009 and will probably continue its work until 2013. You can still easily become part of the motivated team. Participation on a more short-term basis is also possible. The members are expected to devote anything from a few hours to a couple of days a month to panel work. The members will be paid compensation for their participation (not a salary, however). Membership in the panel is not a full-time job.

Good, n Nice to see infopankki develop something!!
Bad to see the scope reduced to certain segments..
ugly to see even more restriction on who can do what!!
But overall.. The immigrant's as well as the Natives' Taxpayers money has still yet to reap fruits!!

Dear Raamv,

Infopankki appreciates your feedback. The archtypes are purely imaginary and are not made to limit but to help with this very concrete task. It is just an example. The 15 persons certainly do not need to completely match the imaginary profiles that we made up.

Could you kindly call me, if you would be interested in participating (as I do not have your number to call you), please. And likewise, I would also like to ask anyone interested in developing IP with us to contact me.
We are very bush interested in individuals whom have ideas and why not frustration with the IP website. I am often frustrated with it too.

You guys should have danish/norwegian in there - especially since the Nordic Agreement is implemented and active and rules are slightly different then EU/non-EU.

I totally agree that there should be as many languages as needed in Infopankki.fi. At the moment we do not have funding for adding new languages (or maybe 1-2). We are hoping we could add languages as Thai, Vietname, German and Polish at the next state in language vatiety development.

The Nordic agreement is very important for Finland and for Helsinki region too. The citizens of the Nordic states will be identified as one of the sub target groups amongst others in the Infopankki delevlopment work.

Luckyly there are movers like Pohjola Norden who have already done alot to make moving between the Nordic countries easier. There is advisory service available in all the Nordic languages. It's also good that, if I'n not mistaken, 40% or the European know English as a second language and therefore can understand Infopankki already! We also know that service provided in person's first language is always the most effective way to cater information to tha individual.

I appreciate all these comments and will keep on answering to them.

I am 26 years old girl. I am a Computer Networks and Telecommunications Engineer, graduated from National Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology, Tunis, Tunisia. I am currently an IT master degree student at Tampere University of Technology. I am specializing in Networks and protocols and I have almost finished all my courses. I am an Arabic native speaker, but I speak (write and read) French, English, and Italian very fluently. I am currently on the 3rd Finnish language level and intending to continue on September for the 4th level. I understand Spanish as well, but can't really speak it.
I have been working at EADS, Helsinki for my 1st thesis work and lived in Espoo. I am currently working for my 2nd thesis at Nokia Siemens Networks, Tampere and living in Tampere as well.
I am actually very interested to find a job in Turku (summer job or thesis job).
