Babysitter available for evenings and week-ends

Post by Amandine.K » Wed May 13, 2009 10:10 pm

Hi!

Summer is going to be tight financially, therefore I'm looking for babysitting opportunities for evenings and week-ends.

I am a soon-to-be registered nurse (graduating in July) with experience as a nursery nurse in an English-speaking daycare and as a pediatric nurse. My mother tongue is French and I speak English fluently (I have a degree in English literature and language).

I have a car so I can come to Helsinki, Espoo or Vantaa. No need to drive me back home after your night out ;)

Feel free to pm me if you're interested :)

why don't you work at hospital? i mean there lots of jobs there and you can work morning, evening also weekend. Although the pay really sucks

Well not that I haven't tried... I applied to every single hospital in the Greater Helsinki area that were recruiting, either by kesätyö or keikatyö or whatever. Got turned down by all... No fluent written and spoken Finnish = no job I'm afraid. And then you hear they go to Philipines to get nurses... The harsh reality is that I'm far from being alone in this case...

To be honest too i still don't understand why they are recruiting nurses from other countries while some foreign nurses who studied here don't have jobs yet or even employed in permanent position. there are quite number of unemployed people still living in this country and cant even get a cleaning job while the labor market is recruiting workers from China for cleaning jobs.

Have you tried looking in different agency, e.g. Seure, Debora, Medone, Mediverre, Mediverko, You can also call to some of your former work placement, i guess they might have something for you. I got a summer job from my former placement. My Finnish is not that good also but i guess so long as i know what i am suppose to do then its the most important. I guess the same applies to you. Dont give up, i can also help in making calls if you like

I'm registered in most of these agency. My former work placements also have my details. To be honest right now I am more looking for a few babysitting hours here and there as my kids are going to be off from school soon. I have found work from end of July as a nursery nurse. I did it last year and really enjoyed it. We'll see in a few years what is my situation and if we're to stay here or not...

I have a degree in English literature and language
Have you though of "selling" it as English language "playtime" for small children and post a few ads around? You can probably charge a higher fee :D

I am just looking for a few hours during evenings and week-ends. I don't think I could offer such things during these hours but thanks for the idea. I didn't think about that :)
