How long does it take to get an answer for day care?

Hi,

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I hesitated with posting it in "Families"...

We submitted our application for day care for our son last month. We put starting date August 3rd. Now I'm wondering when would we get an answer. Also the date I'll go back to work has changed and I will therefore need day care a week earlier. Any idea how I could change that? Is it just a matter of going to the day care we gave our application to and told them about the change?

max period of waiting i think is four months. but why dont you call them and tell them that you need a place asap, although some of the daycares are closed during summer and other children who are not going for holidays are transfered to other daycares until their daycares are open.

We don't need a place asap, we need a place by July 28th. Thing is where we live there is no much choice. The only päiväkoti of Lehtisaari also caters for Kuusisaari and it's full. We had to put ou application there but were already told that they won't have openings for a while (all the kids are below 6). We just want to know where are they going to put him...

maximmum time to give an answer is 4 months..and the answer can be Not where you want but somewhere where the kunta could pay you for transportation...
The best thing is to go to the Daycare Manager and have a chat and "plead" your case!!
