anybody have been used the inducement?

Post by sabrina_fi » Wed Jun 03, 2009 9:10 am

Dear all,

It has been one week after my due date, and the current size of the baby girl is 4.2 kg according to the altrusound test. I need to wait for another 1 week, if nothing happen again, will take the inducement. Anybody have the same experience? Does the inducement work? My best friend is in UK, she told me it didn't work on her, and finally she take the c-section. Any excersice I can do to aviod inducement and c-section?

Thanks a lot.
Sabrina

Fresh pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, hot curry, hot sex!! There's a chemical in semen that matches one of the chemicals they use for induction!

Try them but baby will generally arrive when ready!

In 2005, I was induced in UK and all was fine. This time round (in Turku in April) we talked about induction at 10 days past due date but my son arrived on his own at 3 days past, so sorry I have no experience of induction in Finland.

Good Luck!

I tried everything to speed up things when pregnant with my son. Raspberry leaf tea, lots of walking, long trip in the car, sex... Nothing worked. He arrived past his due date at 4kg380! I wasn't induced though. They were refusing to induce me before D21 after due date... Go figure Aaron would have been huge!!!

What helped us was ostheopathy. We went to see on ostheopath in Helsinki who managed to align my pelvis and my son. She warned us I'd be likely going into labout within 24 hours. My son was born 23h later. I know other women who used ostheopath as well and they had the same experience than me.

As for C-section when induced there is a higher probability so if you are indeed induced, try to keep an open mind on it, don't focus too much on the normal delivery so that you don't end up disappointed. I had my girls by C-section and my son 5 years later by vaginal delivery. Both were great experience. Discovering your baby (or babies! :)) is such a thrill and moment of intense joy you'll never forget!

Good luck! The end is near! :)

Prostaglandin or Oxytocin are sometimes used. I got Prostaglandin if i am not wrong, a small pill inserted into the vigina. the doctor said it will take like 12 to 24 hours to work. but it only took 3 hours. It was the worst pain ever, but i got epidural and Laughing gas though. the laughing gas was lovely. although i had episiotomy and it took like 3 weeks to heal. I couldnt laugh, cough, cry, but everybody has different experience.

If I remember right they use prostaglandin to mature your cervix and kick start things, then Oxytocin on a drip to keep the contractions coming.

I had laughing gas and hated it, didn't work, I was feeling wobbly. I like the Petidin shot though. I could feel the contractions but the pain didn't go pass an acceptable level. Anyway thanks for the epidural! That was great :)

I had a lot of stitches too (big baby!) but it wasn't that bad in terms of healing. Discomfort for a few days but that was about it...

Good luck anyway! The end is near :)

My first son was induced on his due date because i was ill. The induction went very well - i had an episiotomy and he was born naturally 5 and a half hours after the oxytocin drip was started. He was a very big baby (5.1kg and 64cm long) so i'm glad they induced me when they did so he didn't get any bigger! Don't be afraid - you will be in good hands and they'll have everything there at their fingertips.

Good luck!!
