Where to buy AM2 Retention Bracket?

Post by tabii » Sat Jun 06, 2009 4:24 am

I need to buy a retention bracket for my Asus M3A Motherboard. Mine is broken. I also went to Verkkokauppa but they don't have. I really need it, otherwise I have to buy a new motherboard (it is wasting).

Take a look at the photos:

Anyone who has it or has am2 broken motherboard or know where to buy it please tell me. I really need it.

Thanks. :)

Just buy an aftermarket cooler that suits your board. It will come with it's own retention bracket (i.e. the fitting instruction will tell you to remove the old bracket anyway).

This is likely your cheapest solution.

Solution number two.

Find a cheap (spares and repairs form ebay) ASUS board and salvage the retention bracket. I have an aftermarket cooler fitted to my ASUS board (not an M3A), and the retention bracket I removed looks exactly like the one in your picture. So I'm guessing they're all the same.

Do you mean that you have a similar spare retention bracket? If possible, I wanna trade with you :D

Don't take this the wrong way, but:

- what can you give me for it, that makes it worth it for me?

- 5 or 10 € isn't so life changing for me, not worth the trouble to wrap it up and take it to posti

- if you were a regular here on the forum, I would probably have asked your address by now and it would already be in the post, but you're not

- i've helped one or two newcomers on here before (first posters, like yourself), and I never hear sh 1t from them afterwards, not even a "thank you". That cured my altruism.

So there you have my honest opinion about parting with my spare retention bracket.

Hence, I just suggest you find someone with a spares or repairs ASUS board or buy an aftermarket cooler :D

Yeah, there are incredible difficult to find, I've checked several online stores before I've found one on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Themalright-AM2-B ... 017&sr=8-1

Before I've found it, it felt like I was living in Soviet Russia, where the bureaucrats decide what has the right to exist on the market.
