Customs
Will get a tent from Canada, used. Its going to be declared as a present, with a declared value of 270 Canadian Dollars for insurance reasons. So usually if you go pick something up from Tulli, they want to see a bill, and then they calculate the % you need to pay. I don't have a bill, and am now wondering what will happen. Does anyone know how it goes in this kind of circumstances, or maybe even has experience with this kind of situation? I checked the tulli.fi website but it wasn't to informative.

Re: Customs
So if its from your rents or you actually didn't pay for it, they might agree on the 270 CAD as the value. Then they will flip for an hour if theres a customs 1-2% on *what exactly* it is... and they want 22% VAT on top anyways, the 270 + shipping + customs x 22/100 = what you pay incash onthespot. "Gifts" are under 40 euros... then again if you get lucky it might float through...

Re: Customs
Thanks Pursuivant. Was aware of in cash on the spot. But why is shipping included in calculating the %? That seems strange.
Hoping it floats through. Lets see.

Small tip. If you address it to Mr and Mrs then you can both claim personal allowance - so €80
Not much but every bit helps.
