Hi
Just wondering if anyone can suggest the best place to buy a sunsuit /swimsuit.
It's needed so he can play in the sand, and maybe go into water when the icebergs clear off. I'm not sure what the difference is between a sunsuit and a swimsuit, my guess is that there probably isn't alot in it!
Many thanks in advance!
Dave

Is that a white dolphin with a tattoo above its eye in your avatar?
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.

That, kind sir, is a wave off Waitara bar in memory of the late great Steve Sargent - he took me out further down the coast away from the locals

(Can't see the dolphin)

Why would a baby need a swimsuit? - they just swim naked here. When out of the water, t-shirt and factor 30 and french foreign legion style hat (neck protection)

In baby shops and supermarket. I think that in Kampi POP shop (3rd floor) they have the kind that protects also from the sun, but it is expensive (40-45€) Otherwise you can find some online on the web site that prposes also baby swim (like pikku delfinit).

it's the sunburn thing. I guess most of us are still fairly easy going with regards to sun, but since melonoma killed my Dad (true, smoking didn't help) and me along with surfing mates have all had pot marks out of our skin where benign skin cancers have been removed...it's best to start early and cover the kids up. I've heard it said and give it some credit that it's the burning before you're 19 that sets you up for the little nasties to get mutating.
I am a little surprised that it's not at the forefront of peoples minds but I guess we all have things that we like to give a wide berth.

i agree... my little ones wear sunsuits. i'm lucky we have friends in australia where sun-awareness is premium, so they send us pressies.
SLIP on a shirt
SLAP on a hat
SLOP on some sunscreen!

In the southern U.S., a T-shirt is better than nothing but it won't prevent sunburn. UV penetrates many T-shirts, depending on thickness. I don't remember whether being wet makes it better or worse.
Don't know whether this is relevant so far north.

Sunburn is always bad. But too much protection is too much protection. Vitamin D time is too short here anyway. Sure you can get it from a bottle but sun is not always bad. I just put some sunscreen on the kids and they were fine, no need for clothes, no sunburns (but I admit, they have dark skins for white people). It is so rare here to have enough warmth and sun, lets not make it negative.
