House renovation_help needed

Post by ramkee » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:19 pm

Dear All,

We would like to renovate our house

- replacing bathroom sinks
- small bathtub (in child bathroom)
- Bathroom cabinet (in another bathroom)
- child gate to the steps
- deck in the backyard
- closing the kitchen with a door
- fencing in the front
- shutters to the windows
- shutters in the backyard (I dont know how to explain...its like artificial roof one can fold and adjust the length which has to be covered)
- some metal racks in the bathroom (just need to drill I guess)

we went to Bauhaus to buy the materials but the personnel costs are too high, i.e., if a person from Bauhaus comes to our place to fix the bathroom cabinet its like 200 euros or something like that. We are looking for somebody who can do the above mentioned things for a reasonable price. Please let me know if you have some information. One more thing is unfortunately we cant communicate in Finnish so somebody who can speak in English would be good.

Thank you for your time
Ramkee

Well I totally rebuilt the interior of our last two houses,
including bathrooms and kitchens,
also a new very large shed, a garden play house that sleeps 4 for the kids,
16 RR tie 1,300 brick steps to the pool, etc etc.

Your needs do not sound so challenging.

Where are you located?

Your average handyman costs between 35 and 40 euros ex 22% VAT and kilometrikorvaus, so...

Try this guy -> http://www.homeimprovement.fi. He did our kitchen. His name is Jochem Vliek.
Neat and clean and for a good price.

35-40€/h+VAT for labour. That is the price you should expect to pay. More, you are hiring wrong dude or you really want that one, significantly less and some/all money is not going to go to the books.

Ah, sorry... I see I forgot to add the /hr.
It's the hour rate of the average handyman.

I guess it varies in different locations. Where I am (out in the sticks) it is more like 25 to 30 euro per hour.
Recent experience has confirmed for me that the hourly rate can be meaningless, since the amount different people do in an hour varies so much.
