salary in Canada?

I am an IT postgraduate and going to graduate soon. I am applying a engineer position in Toronto, Canada and it perfectly matches my career interest. The company has informed me to arrange a telephone interview next week. But I have no idea about the interviw. e.g. should I take a face-to-face interview althought we are so far away if the phone interview goes well? And the salary for a fresh PHD student in the field of IT in Canada?
