There are many SA's here in Finland, I use to call them the white refugees Apartheid was not good but it is not paradise now either as in many African countries sorry to say (idiot in Zimbabwe e.g.).

My husband and I are South African - from Johannesburg. We have been here since October last year, so still pretty new to the place! You can PM me if you want to chat further, couldnt get a message to you for some reason..... I have met 3 other Saffers since arriving here.

Yes, there are many whites leaving SA, most are going to English speaking countries like UK, Australia & New Zealand ie. the other commonwealth countries that got their Cricket & Rugby asses whipped by the South Africans.

Hi Allan

Your post is old, but I thought I'd reply anyways. I just posted a conversation starter (hopefully) about making biltong and droewors in Finland.

My husband and I have been here a while too. After 5yrs I'm starting to miss the Cape (Home to me) in a hectic way, but life here is still great:) So, to help with the nostalgia (or to make it worse) we started making biltong.

I only wish we'd done it sooner:) We have a few friends who've started to do it too. We also have great braai's every now and then at our home in Vantaa. We're thinking of having a braai next week, over the weekend.
