Just divorced after 11 years marriage!

Me and my Finnish wife has been married for 11 years, I thought this marriage will last forever.

Those Foreigner / Finnish woman divorce thing is not really belong to me. But I was wrong, my ex-wife wanted divorce, she has made up her mind to end this marriage, so I have no other choice, it only took 3 days to get every thing done, now I am suddenly single again.

Feels like a dream .

So that helps alot. Now life almost back on track. Very depressed for 2 weeks, but now almost ok.

I am totally out during the whole divorce thing, I still do not understand how this happened. We have no fight ... no hard arguement. Just see the relationship getting cold every day, then suddenly she want to divorce. 3 days later, every thing done, I am single again.

How does someone get a divorce in 3 days?

I thought there was a 6-month or 1-year waiting period in Finland.

There is: 6 months if both agree and sign the papers, 1 year if only one wants a divorce.

Include the apartment we own. So it is over. After 6 month it is official.

Maybe you did not hurry getting to Maistraatti on the first possible date, or you had some financial or matters to settle? There is no second waiting time in the law text after the first 6-12 months. I can understand it would some weeks for the clerks to do the final administrative paper work, but months...?
