Cork Spout?

Have searched all over and can't find these things. Short of buying from evil bay and spending £4 per item on postage (but each additional one is *only* an additional £2 postage

), can anyone suggest another option

(PS am not in Helsinki)

There are a couple of shops in Helsinki that sell them. I'll be on Fredrikinkatu on Thursday (there is one on the corner with Bulevardi) am willing to get you one and post it. Or at least check out the prices and report back.

Did you try Clas Ohlson? Hobby Hall?

Is that the store with champagne sabers in the window? Has anyone ever seen one of those things used? Does it actually cut cleanly? And what is the correct term in English?

My brother-in-law pointed out that you don't have to worry about glass shards getting into the bottle because the release of pressure flushes any particles outward. Still it seems both exhibitionist and primitive at the same time.

For those that don't udnerstand, Hank is trying to suggest:

a. People living up here in Jyväskylä are inbred

b. It's cheaper to live in Jyväskylä, but once you need to buy one of life's essentials (such as a cork spout), it can be difficult to find a shop that sells them.

Hmmm, well yes and no. I can usually make stuff out of metal, but stainless is a slightly different animal, and I fear it could end up being more expensive that buying one.

With logic - if you were inbred, your lifes essentials wouldn't be including a cork spout. Hence, if cork spouts are not in the store variety, that means the demand of them, or rather the lack of them suggests...

I am guessing the original picture was for an oil pourer, not a wine pourer. The spout looks too thin for wine pouring... but I am a bit of a pleb about these things

I would guess one of the Hellsinki based kitchen shops might be a good place for these (do they have civilisation up there in the North?), unless you are very lucky and find one in Clas Ohlsen, Tarjoustalo etc

Haven't seen it done live myself but some time ago there was a guy demonstrating this on the telly. Seemed to be a very clean cut... have a look at this. It doesn't seem difficult, I suppose you just need to know where exactly to strike and how, and have the confidence. (And the sabre.)

KK: I can't remember what shops in Jyväskylä might sell those things... maybe penelope can help, I think I know the shop she means and if they do not have them it's a small wonder.
