Question: some tips about ikea?

Post by joanmanuel » Sun Aug 16, 2009 6:37 pm

Hello:
I have some questions about http://www.ikea.com/fi that maybe somebody could help me with:
About the store that is in Espoo, there is an address that says
Osoite:
Espoontie 21

and the other says
Noutovarasto:
Lautamiehentie 3

What does Noutovarasto means? Sorry, but I do not speak Finnish :ohno:

Does this is a second-hand store or all of its products are new?
Can I arrange the delivery to my room on the same day that I buy the product or should I wait one more day? What is the cost? and if there is any additional cost for the people that would carry the stuff?

Thanks

Noutovarasto is their storage facility for other items. For example we had to get our mattress from there. It's very close to the actual shop.

You can get stuff delivered. But I don't think it's same day delivery though. You pay by weight if I remember right. It's quite expensive but then if you don't have a car you won't have much choice.

Van rental for 1.5 hours is 25€. Delivery if you collect the stuff yourself in the store 49€ for the first 200kg within southwestern Finland. It does not say but I think the delivery is typically the next day.

If you visit the Ikea showroom in Espoo, you can see for some of the items on their tags instead of being
the 'coordinates' of which shelf of the Itsepalveluvarasto you can pick up your stuff, they have
a (yellow?) tag "Talk to the Ikea staff".
Well, those are typically items that are stored in the Noutovarasto, so for those ones you get a paper that is your 'reservation',
you first pay for them (together with rest of your purchases) and then you go to pick them up in Lautamiehentie.

They usually give you also a small map and tell you how to get there :-)

Ikea has the beds and matresses in stock, so you can take them straight away.

??

Ikea

or if not Ikea, then try Jysk for cheaper furniture... or for more expensive just try the shopping area at Petikko (around ring 3 at the border of Espoo and Vantaa) where there are many shops selling beds (including Jysk)

With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Besides Ikea stores in Espoo and Vantaa, you can find reasonably priced beds and good quality mattresses at Sotka furniture stores.

YES, IKEA does sell a new stuff. It's not a second-hand. Second-hands usually are much smaller shops...

Hi! See here http://www.ikea.com/ms/fi_FI/ikny_splash.html
- choose the store you prefer - Espoo, Vantaa or Raisio
On the left hand side of the pages you'll find the opening times of that store (Aukioloajat)
Weekdays mon-fri (Arkisin)
Saturdays (Lauantaisin)
Sundays (Sunnuntaisin) - (This will end for now after this Sunday)
- If you haven't received IKEA's newest catalog via mail recently, you should be able to get one at R-kioski for free.

If you do go to the Espoo store and have to pick up something from the warehouse, be sure to take a decent map of the area with you.

The directions Ikea give out in the main store are sketchy, to say the least. And, in true Finnish style, there are no street name signs anywhere.

Good luck.
