thank you Rip for your answers, and what about this situation: I have gotten a travel card loaded with TIME and it is a Regional one (to travel to Helsinki to Espoo), in the case that I want to take a bus that goes from Helsinki to Espoo should I press any button or I have only to pass my travel card?

No, you should not press any buttons in that case.

Rip wrote:If you press any buttons in a bus, you will be charged a 'Value' ticket even if you had 'time' on your card. You'd only want to do that if A) your 'Time' period is not valid for the trip (You have only Helsinki internal 'time' and you want to travel from Helsinki to Espoo (or the opposite direction) (you press (2), or you want to make a Espoo internal trip (press (1))
By the way, with the situation: Card with Time for Helsinki and some money loaded, on a bus in Helsinki that is going to Espoo, I think the correct procedure to pay the ticket is: first bring the card close to the reader once, [reader shows green], do NOT press any button yet, remove it, bring the card close again, [reader shows how much money is loaded] and then finally press button 2.
Or did they simplify that later?

@tizlit, about flat fee: there are several proposals to renew the fare system, with the two contrasting requirements of addressing fairness (the longer the trip, the higher the fare) and simplicity (going towards a flat fee). One of the proposals that I read contemplate the possibility that you show the card twice: when you get aboard and when you get off, so that you'll pay proportionally to the number of km you travelled!
