Acetone\95% alcohol

Post by shrimp67 » Wed Sep 16, 2009 12:16 pm

Hello,
I'm in need of acetone or 95% alcohol to dilute epoxy resin\paint I'm using.
Where can I get them legally in a reasonable price in Helsinki?

Kiitos.

Hi!
You can buy both stuff in a hardware store. No problems.

90+% ethanol (=alcohol) for cleaning purposes can be bought with brand name Sinol.
- In Finnish we call that "Denaturoitu sprii" (denaturated spirit). - - Denaturation makes it impossible for drinking purposes.

Acetone can be purchased in a hardware store, too. It's called Asetoni.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your help, I will go to K-rauta later this week to see what they have.

Sinol can be found at gas stations too. Or at least that would be the first place I'd look for one.

Are you sure? I thought people in actual chemistry labs also have access to 99.x% alcohol without additives (Etax is, I think, one common brandname). Maybe they are just very good in making cocktails....
