You need to go around the stores (On-off, Gigantti, etc etc etc Hobby Hall is good too, espcially if you want to pay in installments) and look for special offers (try reading all the trash that gets dumped in your mailbox too). You might even be able to find a display model that they will do you a discount on.
If I remember correctly the store MUST take your old one away if you ask them to. Not sure if they charge for it though.

Surprised your machine has died after only 4 years, especially if it is a low-end (ie bog-standard unsophisticated) model as not too much can go wrong. Anyway, charging so much to fix a machine (even without knowing the problem) is CRIMINAL. Forcing people to buy new, buy new, buy more new, all the time
