Problems Renting Movies
Hello Dear All,
this time I have a silly question really. Ok. Here's my problem:
I like to rent movies from my local Blockbaster (or whatever they are called) in Espoo once in a while. But more often than not I go back empty handed or have to settle for plan B or even C. It's because when I ask about a movie and the girls do the search they say "we don't have it".
Well, I knew those movies weren't really among recent hits but I know they exist, I've watched them before, I had rented them movies from my local Blockbuster in the States!
So, only recently I found out that "We don't have it"doesn't necessaitly mean they really don't have it. It simply means "Search by its original English title returned no results"!
So, I'm guessing some movies are registered in their database with their original titles and some with Finnish titles.
But how would I know Finnish titles??
A fellow co-worker showed me search option at www.dvdplaza.fi and I tried some of my unlucky movies there. Only 2 showed up having Finnish titles added to the English ones (so I'll try one of them tonight at the rental). Some showed having no alternative (Finnish) title, and some didn't come up at all.
So, do the 2 former option mean that those movie are truly non-existed in the rental?
Or, does it mean that dvdplaza.com isn't sufficient source for such search?
So, where else would I look for Finnish titles of American (English) movies?

IMDB, “Additional Details” section, “Also Known As” subsection. (See Police Academy, for instance.)chickensexer wrote:So, where else would I look for Finnish titles of American (English) movies?

Thanks a lot!!
Although last night I tried asking for 2 movies whose Finnish titles I found at dvdplaza - they had neither. So my hopes are growing bleak.

Persistance shall prevail, my friend... I just found out that the rental chain DOES have it, just not at this PARTICULAR place...
On merry movie quest I go...
So may be some local knowledge might help?
I live in Matinkylä and the nearest one would be in Haukilahti. Does anyone know if that one is bigger than the one in Matinkylä?

Cough, cough, ahem, mmmmmmm, download, bluster, errrmmmmm, cough, bit-torrent, excuse me, whistles, clears throat, ahem, pirate bay, where was I? Looks away, no eye contact, mininova, stands on one foot, fidgets, runs away.
I've no idea. Can't help you I'm afraid.

2. So you're skiving at work to post this?
3. Really? It's no bother. I've watched numerous movies via torrent that i just can't find anywhere else. Finnish, Foreign, independant, art house, banned, it's all there to be savoured.
4. Movie hot spot. Reminds me of the 80's. Trudging along to video rental store every day just to be met with blank stare when asked if anything new was available.
I loooooove breaking the law. It feels so liberating.

2. I don't know what does "skiving" mean but I do have breaks. And I type fast.
3. It's bother for me to deal with some torrents or whatever. It's not bother for me to direct one of my walks to a movie rental place.
4. The movies I'm after are not new.

You'll often find obscure DVDs there for just €1 or €2 more than it costs to rent them here.
