Where to buy? Where can I find? How do I? Getting started.

The cost of getting S-card as opposed to being free like Plussa is that you get bank account with it.

What? Yes! S-bonus is paid to bonus account which actually is just like regular bank account. Technically it is one. This was due to some law changes some time ago which forced the change.

Bonus goes to this account from which you can get it out in actual cash. Or you can use S-card to pay purchases in S-ryhmä when it is charged from your "bonus" account.

Plussa system in turn is not based on account with money but they send you the coupons which give discount at cashier. Essentially coupon pay X-euros from your purchase. IIRC it cannot be traded into cash but only used to pay purchases in K-ryhmä.

You can get Visa added to your S-card so you can pay with it elsewhere as well with credit. Not really sure if it works as debit card outside S-chain.

Plussa in turn can be added to your OP-Pohjola back card. So it can result in situation where your OP (osuuspankki, bank in Finland for those unaware) card can be debit card, credit card AND Plussa card. All in one.
Which can make it amusing if you go to S-chain store, give them your S-card and then pay with OP-card which has bit Plussa-logo in it.

:ochesey:

Ok, it's not THAT big. But obvious still.
And these days you often enough just stick the card into reader so cashier hardly sees it. But still.

A few years ago I brought a fridge freezer from mustaporrsi. When I showed my Plussa card they instantly moved my warranty from 2yrs to 5yrs. No charge. Not a bad deal, especially when the bloody thing broke down after 3 years. The part was replaced free of charge.

Little more about S-bonus:

*Costs 35 euros to join
*They pay yearly profit share to shareholders
*If you wish to get rid of your s-membership, they'll buy your card ("share") from you with the current price.

..the up side of being watched as you use your customer loyalty card is that they can predict what you will be needing soon.

For that reason, places like K-Market Masala have an impressively targetted range on the shelves. I'm guessing they simply make the link. When we had a kid and hit the type 1 nappies - as well as say another 30 customers, they knew we'd be needing things to do with kids over the next few years. The kiddy section ballooned. As we bought Japanese sushi ingredients, they figured that people who buy these things probably also want to buy Chinese ingredients, which is right - so some pretty heavy chinese ingredients turn up the shelf.

In that sense, it may be convenient concentrate the purchases in a small-medium shop (like I suppose K-Market Masala is) rather than
going to big KKKK-Supermarket ;) or Prismas where your specific 'unusual' needs would be diluted by their large customer volumes.

KKK-Supermarket is better
Anyway in our family, we prefer S-etukortti since we get money back into an account we rarely use. The money on that account can be used where ever and however. Wifey has the S-etukortti with Visa function and I stick with the S-etukortti alone. Someone asked if you could use the debit function in other shops; and the answer is YES. Your S-etukortti Visa Credit/Debit or just Debit card can be used in other shops too but the S-etukortti Debit can only be used in S-rhymä shops. That is, you'll need to have S-etukortti Visa Debit for you to be able to use it somewhere else.

Plussa is useless... even when we had over 1000€ from Kesko, we get peanuts in return. When we had about 800€ from S-rhymä, we got about 30€ back to a bank account and not some coupon

Note: S-card is not the same as S-etukortti :P

Well, you can get your plussa points as euros to your bank account nowadays too. But the two main reasons why bothered to get the card was:

* The occasional discounts (even if they often are of the type "Nippon-XZ2 camera 399€ -> 250€" (the price of the same product elsewhere 275€, but it is still a 25€ discount).
* Better warranty terms if you buy some big household electronic items from Mustapörssi

The plussa point is one of the tiniest units I've see around, as when you receive one of their vouchers
the conversion is 1000 points = 5 € :D

Yes, though you would accumulate them with a significantly faster rate than 1 point for one euro, if one's purchases would be more than (I think) 300€/month. but no, not with my family size and general attractiveness of K-markets thatdoes not happen either....

You can fill in your bank account number on plussa.com and you get your award paid out in real money and do not get plussa coupons anymore.

The points are coming in progressively, the more you spend per month, the more points you get per Euro. But this is only true for the K-"foodstores" (K-market, K-citymarket and the like) and partner companies of the K-group, such as Scandic Hotels, Neste, Teboil, Sonera, Pohjola etc. which are not members of the K-group themselves. Funny enough, Plussa points are not awarded progressively in Anttila, Intersport etc., which are members of the K-group.

See here for a full list.

its very simple, you get tied to the rip of merchants, they give you points while ripping you off. example: i was in k market ,Ruoholahti, and spotted dutch vine tomatoes at 2.40per kilo, ,5minutes previously i saw the same in lauttasaari Lidl for 1.20 per kilo, . Do the maths.
nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you,in time.its easy,.the beatles(j lennon)
