Cheap car towing service?

Post by aniorek » Wed Oct 21, 2009 2:48 pm

I cannot start up my car and it's in my parking lot in Espoo now. I need to take it to a nearby workshop, but the prices of towing service are ridiculous. Alppilan Autokuljetus wants 120e and Falck 160e. Anyone knows a cheaper option than that? It's a 6km ride... (none of my friends is available for manual towing at the moment).

Thanks everyone.

sometimes towing is covered by your car insurance.

Thanks Mook, but not by Pohjola (they would have covered it if the car died on the road, but not on my parking lot). I am actually waiting for their decision if they can make an exception for me. Meanwhile I am checking my options in case it cannot be covered.

Is it a leaser or your own? The companies you mentioned screw people as "insurance pays"... I think I have a few cheap ones tickets someplace but its 60-80 euros usually ... hmmm.. I'd have a car with a hook but I'm going up north getting the Porsche this weekend so *I* might need towing

Haha, thanks Hank! Just casually mentioning the Porsche... 8)

It's my own car. 60-80e would be more reasonable, although I could easily get another nice pair of shoes for that price instead. :)

Well its an Audi really, I think I'll find an Auto-Union badge for it ;)

Anyways, start telephone terrorism and ask for a quote - say its your own car and not insurance paying

Have you asked the workshop how much they will charge to have someone come and pick it up & tow it to their garage?
I bet they'll do it for €50 cash in hand.

Unfortunately they don't offer this kind of service.

Thanks for all offers, also those via PM. ;) Case solved, today a friend of mine managed to stop by at the parking lot and we were able to jump start my car. I still took it to the workshop to check if anything needs repair.
