barbers
Re: barbers
I went to the vocational school for barbers in Helsinki and got some pretty good haircuts. As with all "schools", you take your chances.

Socialism has never managed to create anything beyond corpses, poverty and oppression.

Re: barbers
Best thing to do is buy your own clippers and make your self look like a penis with ears...
Or, just don't cut your hair.

Well if the bishop is wearing his mitre and you have your new prick haircut, everyone might think you are brothers!brengun wrote:ok, thanks all, and Elvis ,thanks for the lateral thinking, yes i,ve seen a haircutting machine in Tarjoustalo for 9´99. and I,d be happy to impersonate a "prick with ears" except i got to meet the bishop this sunday at my son,s rippi(confirmation).
With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.
Re: barbers
Just go to a barber and ask for ympärileikkaus. It'll be cheap. Ympäri means all aroud and leikkaus means cut
Hehe ok don't ask for that... I had a buddy in school a few years back who wanted to try his finnish skills at the barber and I told him to say that. The ladies there had a good laugh.
In Kirkkonummi there is a cheap place that I go to that costs 9.50€ for koneleikkaus (machine cut) so it's with just the clippers and she doesn't really use scissors except for a few places. But it comes out nice

Re: barbers
I haven't found a cheap barber this way...actually I haven't found someone I would consider a barber. I gave up. Paid a fortune and it looked like cr@p....brengun wrote:ok, thanks all, and Elvis ,thanks for the lateral thinking, yes i,ve seen a haircutting machine in Tarjoustalo for 9´99. and I,d be happy to impersonate a "prick with ears" except i got to meet the bishop this sunday at my son,s rippi(confirmation).
So got back into the clippers. Mind you I only use them once a year or so...

If you do go for the penis with ears* look after your son's comfirmation, I would really recommend you invest a bit of cash and get a decent set....It will last a good 10 years or so. I mean get one for 30 - 50 euros, use it a few times and you've got your money back.
* of course, you can just use a longer grade and it will look decent.

If you end up buying cordless one, remember to charge it before use. I laughed myself sick when we were readying my little brother to the army and the charge lasted half way through his hair... "sorry, this needs to charge for few hours" and bro had half of his head with 2mm hair and other half with 20cm... for some reason he didn't go to the bar for last drinks as civilian.Bubba Elvis XIV wrote: If you do go for the penis with ears* look after your son's comfirmation, I would really recommend you invest a bit of cash and get a decent set....It will last a good 10 years or so. I shaved half of my head once and the clippers died on me...had to race down to Stockman with half a head of hair. I put a baseball cap on and pulled the hood up over it.Upphew wrote: If you end up buying cordless one, remember to charge it before use. I wouldn't mind if it was a perfect half...but it was just bits from all over the place!

A bit like Terry Nutkins

Thus people will readily be able to distinguish you from the bishop.jas_rho wrote:Just go to a barber and ask for ympärileikkaus. It'll be cheap. Ympäri means all aroud and leikkaus means cut
You'll be the one with ympärileikkaus.
As he persisted, I was obliged to tootle him gently at first and then, seeing no improvement, to trumpet him vigorously with my horn.
Re: barbers
found a fab hairdresser in nervanderinkatu.. she took a lot of care . 15 euros. and i didn,t actually feel like "a prick with ears" either.,which was a bonus.
