Best internet service providers.?
OK, so I got a contract with Sonera,, I inherited it andI,m not tied in anymore.. I,d like to change to the best deal around , so help me, and save me trudging through the various offers. At present its 10mb/sec and costs32.90 per month. Also is there some initial charge for equipment,? (I notice some paperwork referring to modem costs of 135 euros). Any help much appreciated. , location, helsinki.

that's a fairly good price. You'd be best sticking with it.

Still might be worth checking other providers as some have a 1 or 2 month free for new customers deal (if you're a Saunalahti mobile customer 6m - makes up for the 2€ extra for the other months..).

And as a new customer, you should never have to pay for the box ... I've had 3 deals and it's always been ... take this offer and get the box free and 2 months with a few € off (normal price €1xx - yeah right ... everyone gives them away free).
Take home message ... don't pay for the box unless you're particularly dim.

Re: Best internet service providers.?
What are you comparing it with? You wouldn't get that speed with unlimited download for this price in the UK.brengun wrote:...........................................................................disappointing, ,but thanks for the reply.Mook wrote:that's a fairly good price. If you lower the bandwidth you can maybe get down to 23 Euro's a month, try http://saunalahti.fi
(But for 7 euros/month worth the pain of having to wait for all your pr0n to download?)

Re: Best internet service providers.?
not so bothered about gettin pron( did i say pron? i meant sexually explicit educational material) so much , my teenage son might need some educating there though, but i think they get the real thing these days, at least i,d like to think so . as regards the net, I was getting a deal from talk talk in the uk , telephone line rental, unlimited calls to uk and europe and a good net speed ,all for 23 pounds. .Now it was prob. not unlimited download , so I guess its all about that when it comes to price.. and yep, my son does download a lot of stuff, and probably wants unlimited.never mind its always good to do the research, thanks.

I guess the main players are Sonera, Elisa, Saunalahti, and if you're in the Helsinki city area, Welho which is supplied over cable so you might get some deal including TV distribution. In Oulu I had service from the local telephone company IIRC.
Can't help you with the best current deals since they change from time to time, but as already mentioned, usually you will get the modem for free. If not, then I think I have a couple of brand new modems somewhere around, but they would need configuring with the service provider's settings.
I'm currently with Elisa, service has been really good, and technical support usually has someone who can speak decent English.

A year ago I have happily changed from Elisa (who couldn't even offer 2Mbps in this part of Espoo) to Nebula.
They are a small-ish company compared to the usual Sonera, Elisa, etc, but they have a good service.
You can even have IPv6 address if you need it
