1. Well firstly you need to pass a test, after which you get a professional licence to a certain city. Theres courses arranged continuously, just look for "taksikurssi"... you just need to remember those are mostly held in Finnish.
2. Are you stupid or something - you do that and you're in jail.

Yes, of course. Would you want to get in a taxi driven by some random novice who might not know how to drive a taxi?Mustikka poika wrote: is there some specifi taxi driving course etc?
In Finland, you don't jsut "turn your car into a taxi for the weekend". You need to get yourself and your car registered as a "taxi". You might want to start with your local authority.Mustikka poika wrote: In other words how can I turn my car in a taxi on weekends?
Political correctness is the belief that it's possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

To get a licence to drive a taxi car as a "renki" is one thing, to get a licence to operate a "taxi" car(s) as a business from the Province government requires you to have been a "renki" was it 5 years... and then you need to wait for some old guy retire or keel over and buy their business unless theres a lottery for new licences issued... so as in "forget about it".

Re: Taxi driving
I had looked into driving a taxi for work. In Helsinki you have to speak and understand Finnish (and drunk slurred finnish). Then you must know where every street, hotel, and restraunt is.
the pay seems to be ok from what I've heard from friends that are drivers. However the pay wasn't enough for me to be willing to lern the above mentioned information.
It's already been said, you have to be employeed by a company for some years (3 - 5, I don't remember exactly) before you can start your own company.

A taxi business is a restricted trade in Finland and as such you need a trade permit from the State Provincial Office in order to register the business with the National Board of Patents (Company Registration Office): ref: Act on the Right to Carry on a Trade (27 September 1919/122)
