shopping in Stockholm

Post by interleukin » Tue Jan 12, 2010 11:53 am

Hi all,

this of course has nothing to do with Finland, but here goes. Am planning a daytrip over to Stockholm to make use of the sales and the weak crown. Have been to Stockholm tons of times (and am fluent in Swedish), but I actually do not know the city so well apart from the usual tourist places. So I wonder if anyone of you has tips on where one should be going to get a condensed shopping experience (I know it sounds horrible, but many shops in one place is a huge bonus if we are only there for a few hours). I am after boring things like jeans, socks, t shirt, books, etc. The boring basic things. So I do not need the fancy, expensive designer shops.

I have of course walked the Drottninggata a number of times and the other streets surrounding Sergelstorg (also the Galleria that is opposite to NK). Was thinking that this time it could be smart to go to as large a shopping centre as possible to get the shopping over with. After a day in there, I would hopefully not have to buy anything remotely related to clothing for a year, I HATE shopping despite the subject of this post.

I have heard about Kungens kurva, though not been there. It seems to get there, one has to take a pendeltrain plus bus. Is it a useful place to go to? Is there an easier way to get there? Does anyone have any tips about another shopping centre (easily accessible from the central station by public transport)?

thanks,
interleukin

Kungens kurva with Willy's shoppingmall is as exciting as a stuffed cat. That place is not worth the hassle to get there in my opinion. Atleast the parking is free and indoors too. Yay.
