Currently Kajaani but willing to move. I actually have a couple of things looking positive just now. No guarantees obviously but makes me feel a lot better to know there are things out there i'd be suited to.

thanks mate. same to you. even if i'm still living off the in laws this time next year i'll take comfort in at least finding jobs I can apply for. Nothing as depressing as spending a couple of hours job hunting and coming up with absolutely nothing (seems to be the case most days)

Is that all you get 8€'s a day when unemployed in Finland or is that in addition to a basic rate because you are on a course?

really? so the job centre won't notify you of a suitable job while you're on a language course? Seems a bit nuts to pay for your studying if you could be away earning money instead. I've no idea about the benefits side of things as I'm not intending to claim any while the in laws are putting us up.

...no, the 8 euros a day is on top of the benefit, although its really an insult...8 euros..pffft, costs 5 to get there and back! and my employment "job hunting" appointments are nothing more than standing in line for up to 3 hours to get to the receptionist who does nothing more than put a new time on my appointment card and send me away. Ive never gotten any job refferals from the E.O. thats life in the big city huh?

What's the base benefit and is it just for working days or 7 days? Just curious as my job is precarious and one day I may be in the same boat as you.

You can influence the amount yourself by joining a unemployment fund (such as: http://www.ytk.fi/en/ ), if you are not already. You need to be enrolled for at least 10 months before getting unemployed to benefit.

Yeah I'm in that. I meant after that runs out and you're still unemployed how much do you get?
