Car repair

Post by r32 » Thu Jan 28, 2010 6:28 pm

I was wondering what's the warranty that car repair places offer for their work? Is it 6 months or 1 year?
I saw something on the internet about the time but I can't find it anymore...any help please...

Thanks!

The warranty is approximately the time your rear lights show in the driveway.

I'd say its one year but that's just from the past experience that I have had. I dunno if there is any law on that or if car repair shops have their own set guarantees. Might depend on the work done and if the part itself had some kind of warranty, etc.

Some repair places will offer a one year warranty at an extra cost. Some of the more expensive shops will provide a 90 day warranty as a part of the service. Low price fly-by-night shops, well, it's like pursuivant wrote......

If I had any money to afford a car that went to a place offerinng waranty - I would be so rich so as to have a chauffeur.

I am sure that there is a law, but I don't really remember where I saw the information. I think in http://www.kuluttajavirasto.fi/

It says "six months or 15,000 km unless otherwise specified". That is, of course, assuming that the place you went to is a member of either Autoalan Keskusliitto ry: or Autotuojat ry (or their sub-branches). If they are, they most likely have a copy of the terms visible somewhere. If they're not, it's up to them if they offer any warranty. The consumer laws don't give specific timeframes, it's all on a case-to-case basis.
