Online garden centers?

Is there any other online garden centers apart from Viherpeukku? (Viherpeukku appears not to be working). Alternatively is the any garden supplies shop inside of Helsinki, except Stockman (I've been there and they don't have what I need)

Then Bauhaus is as good a place as any. Or Prisma (our Prisma in Olari has a garden centre attached but it doesn't open until Easter-ish). Or Plantagen (but I find them a bit expensive). Have you tried looking in flea markets? Also HongKong, their garden stuff is really cheap and you could even try Tarjoustalo and Etola (both have stores in the city centre).

I think most Finns who grow stuff just keep their juice cartons, rinse them out and fill them with potting compost.

Thanks for those suggestions. I think HongKong is maybe a good bet. I would use containers as I hate the amount of plastic waste I through away, however I need pots with at least 6 litre volume as the chili plants can grow into very large bushes.

Six litres is big. Trouble with the Ikea pots is they don't usually have drainage holes. But I guess it is easy enough to drill a few in the base and find a saucer that fits.


Why don't you use terracotta pots? (Prisma usually has them)

Terracotta pots are heavey and these are plants that live on wall shelves, so I need light weight solution, as you said, "6 litres is big"

Someone recommends 25cm pot as good guesstimate size for average 70-120cm bush.
