Geez... 131 pages of instructions

As a reminder on Finnish taxes, they now have the tax% calculator available in English!

http://prosentti.vero.fi/veropros_aloit ... nguage=ENG

Most wage earners are in what is called "veroehdotus" which means you'll be getting a folded A-3 size sheet in late May/ early June. Otherwise you should have filled out your tax return sheet already. That is, if you get one you need to fill one out. If you are in the wait-until-summer-to-sweat process, remember to keep all receipts etc. that the banks send you at the end of the year. Banks & insurance companies do share the information directly with the tax office, so there will be prefilled sections. What usually is missing is deductions for travel expenses and if you sold any stocks etc. that information has to be corrected. Tax forms and publications are available in English and some instructions as well.
Cheers, Hank W.

I contacted the US Embassy about taxes last week. An informative page they have can be found at :

http://www.usembassy.fi/servlet/PageSer ... sular.html

I was also told that they should have the tax forms and guides in shortly and also offer a free advice session one has to pre register for. The man still didnt have the date as of a week ago....but said that if a US citizen is registered with the embassy , then he or she would get an email as soon as the date was set.

And about sending the completed forms to Philadelphia:

He told me it was faster to send them to the address in London that is listed on their web site. Anyway have fun with taxes!

One question though: When Im filing out my income, do I claim the KELA benefits the children receive each month? Just wondering...

Thanks for the additional info Trish..

Didnt know about this address in London( :?: ) Besides, I dont have a problem send no money to Uncle Sam as I do not owe any US Taxes, but by US Law, I still have to file every year.
here is the tax info - http://www.usembassy.fi/servlet/PageSer ... /acs9.html

Do not know about the kela benefits and your better off asking that person that comes to US Embassy. You could I guess ask a contact point from the UK site if worst case ... sorry I couldn't help more.
