You've no doubt watched the opening ceremonies, the torch support "thingy didn't pop up from the floor like it should have. You saw ( I refused to) the poor young Georgian guy get slammed into the steel pole at a million miles per hour. Skiing events have been postponed until the rain and fog clears up. What next?

Just discovered Eddie, the Eagle, a british winter Olympics legend... He jumped 59 meters in Calgary 88. "oh shiit"

Brittimäkikotkan Eddie Edwardsin piti levyttää vuonna 1991 Suomessa duetto Irwinin kanssa, mutta Irwin meni kuolemaan kesken kaiken. Eetu pisti sitten sinkkuna purkkiin kappaleen "mun nimeni on Eetu". Rockstop haastattelu ja video. 2

"Proud to see that the First Nations were well represented"

I dont remember learning that any first nations of Canada had bright neon and green colours as part of their "traditional" costumes. But maybe you went to a different school then me :) If I was of First Nations descent it would be kind of offensive. But other than that it was pretty well done I would say. I loved the story sequences! Also "EDDIE THE EAGLE" is a legend...he reminds of an athletic version of Bubbles from TPB :)

Quote from the wife " What the devil's happened to Finnish sisu " that was after she'd promised me that at last Finland would shine at these games in the 30 km cross country but no, they both jacked it in and didn't finish, I daren't mention Amy .

Where are the Finns? I haven't even seen them represented in any of the skiing sports where they so often dominate. I don't believe there was even one Finn in the biathlon but there must have been at least a couple of them in the cross country competitions weren't there? I didn't see any Finns in the ski jump either. I am beginning to wonder if Finland is even represented this time. :ohno:

At last, Finland wins a couple of bronzes within a few hours of each other, must feel like consolation prizes given Finland's winter sports heritage, still better than UK, although at least we got a gold but I think that's going to be the lot this time round.

Getting silver in the snowboarding is really something though. The guy who got gold, Shaun White, really is damn good and regarded as one of the best (if not the best)...so coming second to that is pretty f***ing good.

Of course, there's always the snob factor so Piiroinen will never receive the attention he deserves. I am sure he will be happy with the sponsorship offers from Japanese gaming corps or something though and the international fame. Sure he's quite a pretty decent career ahead of him.

Never mind Britain having more golds than Finland... at least the UK occasionally has snow ... how about Australia?

That Finland have fallen short of the 12 medal target will be completely forgotten ... if (by some miracle) they manage to win the men's ice hockey (finger's crossed that they at least knock out the Merkins).
