*** Tax Training for the Self-Employed***

Post by Rosamunda » Sun Feb 28, 2010 1:29 pm

I am thinking of organising a tax training session in English aimed at the self-employed among us.

Before I actually start booking a classroom and hunting down a tutor I would like to get an idea of what the interest might be in this (ie: bums on seats)

-It would probably be a half-day session, eg a Saturday morning, in central Helsinki, in the spring (end of March? April?)

-The programme would be something along the lines of: a presentation, a demo of the new tax account and then a Q&A session.

-The focus would be on VAT, income tax, social contributions, the new tax account and implications for the TMI.

-There would probably be a charge to cover the cost of the classroom and the tutor (but I think this is deductible as a business expense!!!)

So... if you are interested, if you have any ideas (eg should we limit this to tax or would you like a 101 on bookkeeping Finnish style too?), please post them all here. It would be good to have at least 10-12 participants minimum to make it worth while. The more the merrier since that way we all get to share each others' questions, experiences and ideas. If you know other freelancers and/or self-employed persons who might sign up for it then ask them to post here too.

I'd be interested as long as it's not at the crack of dawn, as I have to get there from Turku! I'm not a morning person

Definitely interested. I'd also be happy to take longer than a half day, to have a follow-up session, etc, in order to cover other things (such as the book-keeping you mention), including receipts, tax/VAT deduction from expenses and purchases (domestic and foreign), etc. But this tax situation is worth covering.

Just an idea - you might actually be able to get from the dragons lair itself: i.e. the tax office to come and explain the "new system" or atleast provide with material. They like when people bring in the correct paper in the correct order filled in as they want it

I get an image of you, hunched down in the long grass, with a rifle, tracking a tax official...

Just to let you know, I found this and I'll be attending their info session in April. Maybe I'll run into some other forumites there. They also run another course - this - but that one seems like it would only have been useful to me four years ago.

That sounds like the course I did in Lahti (which was a whole day). That's a lot for a 2 hour session!

Hi, just starting a TMI, so this would be a huge help. I'd definately attend.

Probably the same reason you have to pay tax in pretty much every other country in the world. Which alternate dimension are you from?
