I have recently relocated to Finland and am considering starting up a piano studio in my home, but thought first I would put out some advertisements to see if there is interest. As a brief introduction, I have recently completed my doctorate in piano performance and have previously spent a year as an exchange student at Sibelius Akatemie in their DocMus department. Beginning in August, I will once again be affiliated with them as I have received a Fulbright grant to continue work here in Helsinki.
Concerning the posts by sjpeer: For students under the age of 10, and with less than 5 years experience studying the piano, the suggestion of those particular video lessons seems to me to be an excellent alternative to regular lessons. I agree that younger students need more than 1 meeting with their instructor per week. I usually prefer slightly older beginner students (7-8 yrs), but am willing to work with students as young as 5, provided that we are able to meet twice per week, and that the parents are also committed to working with the child during the practice sessions.
Lesson prices are as follows:
25e for a 45 minute lesson per week
35e for an hour lesson per week
45e for 1.5 hour lesson per week
Lessons can be either in English or Finnish. If you are interested in lessons, please send me a PM, or e-mail me at kjscot2@gmail.com.
