Playgroups/Coffee in Kirkkonummi

Post by Kristina2 » Wed Feb 03, 2010 10:28 am

Hi! I am a Canadian who has recently moved to Finland. I was hoping to find a mom's group or playgroup in Kirkkonummi. I two boys 3 and 8. My Finnish is not great, although I am working on it! Just looking for fun, nice ways to fill our time and hopefully meet some nice people along the way.

Which part of Kirkonummi ? Close to Länsiväyla side ? or veikkola side ?
There is an English speaking daycare available in Gesterby..
No playgroups that I am aware of ..The English speaking population is pretty spread out in Kirkkonummi...
If you are closer to Inkko, There is another English speaking kindergarden/daycare in Degerby!!

Thanks for the info! We are living on the Veikkola side. I will be in Helsinki a lot so maybe I will try there. I plan to put my younger son into Finnish paivakoti. I just was looking for english playgroups to help with my social network:) I have heard there is an open day care at Iso Omena. Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks a lot!

Are you talking about the church, on the second floor at Iso Omena, which has a kids playroom and coffee for mums? I've been meaning to go, but haven't made it there yet. I think you can just drop in and check it out. There's also the Agora playgroup for foreign mums which meets on Tuesday mornings in Lauttasaari. That's a good way to make some connections, though most of the kids are younger than three. There are some details here on this site, if you search for it under Agora.

Thanks for the info! Good to know I am looking for a church at Iso Omena :D I haven't been yet but will post something once I have checked it out.

Also thanks for the Agora info. I might give it a try if they are OK with my son being a bit older.

We're coming from Canada and England where playgroups with coffee and cake can be found everywhere. I just assumed it would the similar here:)
