Dear Huy,

Are you a pursuivants bodyguard? Don`t you think that pursuivant can defend himself?

Did I call racist to pursuivant or just an "alert", how people can behave incorrectly?

Just think about that....

Good things

Dear Tiago,

Why would pursuivant want to defend himself? Did you write something in your post that calls for his attention and eventual need to defend himself?
Why do you regard me as his bodyguard? I wrote my answer with the excact same twist and wonderful "alert" as you did.
I can only conclude two things from you;
1: You are picking a fight with pursuivant
2: You are a complete moron.

Just think about that....or not.

Wonderful and happy greetings

Well, at least I picked a fight with you and not with pursuivant, and I didn`t understand why(?)....

I can only conclude two things from you;

1- You need attention(I supose so)
2- You are a frustrated lawyer....since you enjoy defending people so much.

PS I`m just against that people who classify a person only because of the: Nationality, religion, party, etc....
I think it`s really unfair to put everybody in the same pot, as persuivant did.

The best regards

Heh, funny you conclude me as a lawyer, defending people and yet - I need attention. And by golly you are right, I actually signed for this board to seek attention and give attention. And sometimes I even give attention to people like you. Isn't the internet wonderful?

Just dont pull my leg about how you are a better man than pursuivant - when you disguise namecalling for "alert".
That's just low.
It's like me saying; Tiago - you are one classic idiot. But I didn't mean it, because it was just an example. Or "alert". Or a summarum. Take a pick.
Now - according to you - I just justified myself for calling you a classic idiot. :beer_yum:

Love and hugs

Arh c'mon Tiago. You can do better insults than that whimpy weak-wristed smitten kitten girly chocolate muffin stuff.
Give me some pure rage. Sophisticated insults. You can do it. :beer_yum:

let`s be realistic....
What makes you think Pursuivant is not realistic.
So let`s respect each others...
Telling the unpleasant truth is more respectful than lying because you don't want to hurt someone's feelings.

Foreigners are warned time and again how difficult it is for them.
But a lot concentrate on a single positive message (nothing is impossible) and hope for the best. If it doesn't work out as they hoped for, they are frustrated and start whining.
Well they've been told, but they wouldn't listen. Why would we start saying "we feel so sorry for you" ? No they have been warned like all the others who are in the same situation. So let them stop whining and look in the mirror for who is to blame.

It is maybe unfair, but it is natural, to classify things. Nature is not fair. Taxonomy is quite deeply embedded in our genes.

Hi all!
I'm new on the forums.
And I'm in a bit similar situation as the OP.
Sorry, I haven't read through the last 4 pages (I wasn't interested in the ranting).
I'm a graduated mechanical engineer (Ms.C), and I've been living here in Finland since the beginning of October. And I still haven't found a job, but I was lazy in the first two or three months, so I have been seeking intensively only in the last 3 months. I speak English (fair), and Finnish a bit (luckily Finnish is very easy for me, since I'm Hungarian), but I still have problems with understanding talking (but I can express myself in simple everyday situations).
I don't have work experience yet, but I'm still confident, that i will find a job sooner or later, but sooner would be better of course, and I know that getting into the industry requires relationships (otherwise my applications will likely to be thrown out in the first pass).
And I don't know how to network. It's simple in my home country, since I know professors, some people in the industry (I even have relatives in it), group-mates from university, whatever. But I'm new here, I have no relation with universities, I don't have friends and so on. I have been on a career event/expo, but it was so crowded, that I couldn't talk to anyone seriously. I gathered business cards, but that's all.
I know that my plan/method is bold (okay, reckless), but I won't be young forever. I can supply myself for an other 2 or 3 months, we'll see.

Er..., I'm not sure what I wanted with the post, maybe some ideas about networking? Should I try forums about/in the industry (I haven't found a Finnish board yet), or simply I could make some phone calls?

And yes, an other one: how could I express in a cover letter or in a phone call, that I speak Finnish a bit? I don't want to waste the manager's/secretary's time by stuttering, and asking "Mitä, mitä?".
I was thinking about writing the cover letter in Finnish, but I guess that would be lie.
Or simply stating that "I speak Finnish a bit"?

And what do you (and employers) think of Hungarians? Honestly.

Thanks for any words in advance!

Since I'm lazy and can't be bothered reading through your entire post, I'll try to summarise what jumped out at me.

Hmmmm.
Yup, my cover letters are much better, "engineer", "experience", "design", "ability", "machine" jump out.
But I wanted to be honest and tell everything without fancy editing, since it's not an advertisement.

And I know that the thread turned to be about whining and ranting at the end, so it's quite hard to get it back on track.
hopefully we will succeed...

Thanks for your answer, I expect that kind of honesty.
I'll look into all the other threads, if it's not the most suitable one for my "question".

I hope my post doesn't sound resentful, but I don't have much routine to get a thread back on track with a first post.

Sorry guys/gals!

You can send applications to companies even when they don´t have open vacancies. Do it in English, and just mention that you know some Finnish. But there certainly is no guarantee that the situation will improve in 2-3 months. Companies are still laying off people.

lipko, dunno what town you're in, but if you're in the capital area, you could put up
notes for a finnish-hungarian exchange at the University of Helsinki and
Aalto University. This will create contacts for you within Finland and might lead to
jobs. If nothing else, you improve your Finnish to make you more attractive to
potential employers.

Sorry, I haven't read through the last 4 pages (I wasn't interested in the ranting).
It would have given you some insight in the kind of problems you might face.
