Finnish equivalent of Ulta (American cosmetics chain)?

Post by ladygrey » Thu Apr 08, 2010 12:33 am

To American expats that know the chain I'm referring to, is there something similar in Finland? It's a chain that has only cosmetics, salon merch, and body/hair care supplies. I know I can find these things in any department store, but I was looking for something more specific like Ulta.

No, they're different. Ulta carries a bunch of different brands unlike Body Shop which carries only the house brand to my knowledge. Plus Ulta's not as super-frickin'-overpriced as TBS. I'm basically looking for a place that has a huge selection of hair accessories like barrettes and headbands. Ulta was my go-to place back home for that kind of thing, and I've been underwhelmed by the selection at hypermarkets/department stores here.

But I'd guess that you won't find those thingamajings there either.

Hehe..thingamajings >_>

Yeah I've seen this place in the Hansa mall. I think they carry only about 3 gazillion types of shampoos/conditioners/gels/sprays but little to none in the way of accessories. Thanks for the suggestions, guys, but I found some sufficient thingamajings at Stockmann today :)

Hansa mall? Is that in Turku? In Helsinki and Espoo (and I bet also in Vantaa) there are shops named NINJA. They full of hair acessories.

You can find their locations here. Sadly, they don’t carry shurikens or katanas.... Here’s a picture of one of their stores.

Yup, I'm in Turku. But Ninja does look like it's worth checking out next time I'm in Helsinki. Thanks for the tip :)

If you come to HEL or Espoo there are also stores like Accessorize (Iso Omena and Sello) and Pieces opened in Iso Omena last week.

Oi, Ulta! how i miss it. Your best bet for similarity is Antilla ... http://www.anttila.fi/ . They carry just about everything. However, if you take a stroll through the Forum and Kamppi youll find many more makeup stores, hair care, and more posh places that carry perfumes. Go window shopping

Price wise there is nothing remotely like Ulta in Finland. I bought 1 litre bottles of Redken shampoo for about the same price as 300ml bottles in Finland. On top of that Ulta had a 3 for the price of 2 offer. So that made the price difference about 5x compared to Finland. Even the discount internet stores like http://www.gorgeousshop.com/ are more expensive (especially since they don't always have the 1 litre size).
