The money, that is. Let's say I have enough money on my own to live in Finland for over a year withouth needing to have a profession.

I'm a bit confused about how to invest that money on the best possible way to try to keep an income coming. I could either start a business, be on the investor field, buy an appartment or two and rent them during the year, so on. Which of those are easier to get into and require less bureocracy? I have some ideas on what I'd like to invest the money on but I don't have an entrepeneur background going on for me. Also I feel a bit compeled to have a working status, since as I said, I could just do nothing and survive very well. The country on the other hand would boot me sooner or later if I held no productive position within society. So that's why I'm asking.

Also, I'm a bit puzzled about some foreign people that post around here saying they've been looking for jobs for half a year or longer. I thought you could only be up to a maximum of 3 months in the country withouth a residence permit or a job? At least that's what happened to me when I made a first attempt of living in Finland a little longer than a year ago.

Of course, if you can afford to buy an apartment, lucky you. If you have that kind of money, you could all the same put it in an investment fund and watch it grow. But people would be happier if you became a business angel!

Regarding the permanence, for EU citizens you can stay 3 months if you do not register. If you want to stay longer you need to go to the police if you are temporarily. If you want to stay permanently, you register as a permanent resident in Maistraatti, that's automatic.

EU citizens without a RP are not kicked out.
People might have an other reason for a RP (family ties, study)
