Divorce and taxes

Post by fratello » Sat Apr 17, 2010 5:59 pm

Hey, I've been reading the vero pages (that which is in English) and I can't find any information on how divorce has affected my taxes. I know we are taxed separately but apparently there is no difference that I can see. I did notice that children provide a 400e benefit for 1 and 800e for 2+. It says that my spouse and I could split the deduction ie. 400/400 - does anyone know if this is still possible even though we live in different houses with 50/50 joint custody? My other question relates to the sale of our house - we had lived in it longer than 2 years so no tax was paid on the gains but their was a penalty from the bank when we paid the loan back early - can I claim this interest penalty (it was 16k)? Also there was the fee paid to the real estate agent - another 15k - can this be considered a claimable service?

Any help is appreciated - thanks.
