We are a finnish-british family living in Porvoo with a 8-month old
daughter. We have recently moved from Copenhagen to Porvoo. We would
like to meet other english speaking families in Porvoo or Helsinki region. Does anyone of you know
any activities we could participate in or any other international
groups with meetups etc?
English speaking families in Porvoo/Helsinki region
Re: English speaking families in Porvoo/Helsinki region
Hi,
I don't know of any official meeting place for English speaking families but we (3 kids + girlfriend) are english/finnish speakers and maybe it's enough to hook up at a park on the weekend sometime.
We live in downtown Hki.

Try the I.E.S.A.F. (international english speakers association of Finland) they are mainly in Helsinki but have members dotted around other cities, too. (I'm in Turku!!)
try googling for their website (no dots) - for some reason I can't put the details on here! - and they are on Facebook, too. They organise regular pub quizes and family days and I think they organise a sunday kids english nursery rhymes group.
You could also try the Finn-Brits and the FinnGuild - both organise stuff all over the place - sorry, late & tired so a bit non-specific!
Good Luck

Hi
There is quite a few people from the UK in the area, there is a few Scots living in Porvoo as well as a English / finnish family in Pornainen, and I'm working in Porvoo everyday.
I drive in from Elimäki and there is three Brits living in the area and a walsh / finnish family in Kouvola as well as many others.
Making friends is a odd process, because just because one comes from the same country doesn't mean you will get on. Nevertheless Brits generally try and get on with each other and often it works out well.
