university acceptance stats for international grads

Post by lunasa » Thu Jan 28, 2010 1:22 am

Hi, I was wondering if there might be someone who can help me. I've been browsing this forum for a while and couldn't find an appropriate answer so I figured I'd just ask!
Anyway, I've applied to do a masters degree in computer science at the University of Helskini, starting in September. I have only recently applied and I'm still awaiting notification about acceptance into the program. My question is, as an international student what are my chances of getting into the program. I found some information here about acceptance rates for international students but I think that was only for undergraduates (not sure) and it was for a few years ago. I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on this for me as obviously I'd love to get accepted but I just don't want to get my hopes up for nothing!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Kathi for your reply, i appreciate it. I actually never considered that the number of applications would rise as a result of the recession but it's a good point! I'm from Ireland and I have a degree and masters from uni's there so I'm hoping that it's enough to get me in, just have to wait I suppose!

And also the high rejection rates are due to assclowns applying with papers their daddy bought at the marketplace = mainly trying to get an EU permit.

That seems to be the case in most EU countries where college fees are cheap (like Ireland) or free, you get every kind of chancer trying their luck, just seems to make the process longer/more of a pain in the ass for legit students.
