Nurse looking for work in health care field

I'm a nurse from the U.S. with 25 years experience in health care primarily as a consultant and educator looking for part-time employment. Currently I'm studying in a Master's of Health Promotion program @ Laurea and have a flexible schedule.
I am married to a Finn living in Helsinki & have EU citizenship. My Finnish language skills are better than basic but unfortunately nowhere near fluent.

Good luck! I tried every hospital be it public or private as well as agencies. I was lucky to even receive a negative answer... It's bad, they need nurses but don't want to employ the ones willing to work even with basic Finnish.

Yeah I know but I haven't posted anything here work related before so I thought I'd give it a try. It's a catch 22 when it comes to the health care field. They want you to be fluent in Finnish but don't want to hire you so you can get practical experience speaking the language.

Have you tried contacting agency to do shift work? Maybe you'll have more luck than me. You can try Seure (but I'm pretty sure they want fluent Finnish), Mediverkko or Deborah. Let me know if you get lucky

Well I tried that way too and was asked for fluent Finnish as well. Plus it's agency work so not reliable if you want a fixed salary at the end of the month. I don't mind ederly care (it's not all changing diapers you know ) but I wasn't even given that opportunity either. Oh and I did my degree here in Finland so it doesn't make much difference, as long as you are not fluent your employment opportunities are very slim.
