Where to find help for child custody case?

Post by john123 » Tue May 25, 2010 5:22 pm

Can anyone recommend an English-speaking family law lawyer in Tampere?

Hi,
I am sorry to hear about your situation.
The city of Tampere does have a public service to deal with family disputes, I found this page with contacts and a contact person at the bottom of the page:

http://www.tampere.fi/perhejasosiaalipa ... iedot.html
Notice: etunimi.sukunimi @ tampere.fi translates as firstname.lastname@...

Perhaps someone from the city can give you more directed advise. Best of luck to you and your children.

Thank you. People I contacted wanted 1,000 euro retainer. Any chance of free advice in English somewhere?

That's only the retainer. It could be enough if the case comes to a quick conclusion, but if it gets an ugly fight, don't be surprised if the costs double or triple.

The social services ajdias mentioned, but they don't do the fighting in court.

Yes you are right, there is good free advice here. Sorry to not acknowledge that!

John you seem to have a incredibly complicated legal situation.
However lets start from square 1
What is your nationality and where are you and your wife currently residing?
If you were a Brit the British embassy has a list of recommended Englsih speaking legal/law experts/lawyers.

I would expect other nationality/embassies to offer similar advice to their citizens
People do not become more irritable as they grow old - they simply stop making the effort to avoid annoying others.

Now it sounds even more incredibly complicated. You really need a lawyer.

I try to understand what child protection is thinking. 1,5 years is a loooong time in a small child´s life. Did you at least visit your son during that time? And how old was he when you left him to Finland? I guess that would also mean something. And why you left him. I think those are the things that count.

Another thing. Does the child have US or Chinese citizenship? Like Sinikettu suggested the embassy could help. And should help when the child is their citizen.
