With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine.

Ajdias, thanks, that's a great resource. The only place I'd add to the list is Horisontti in Malminkartano: http://www.horisontti.net/fi/kirpputori/kirpputori.html I've gotten really lucky with some inexpensive vintage finds there, but be warned that they take cash only.
If you're specifically looking for children's stuff, there's this place in Kruununhaka: http://www.kruunukirppu.com/

Re: Where are the second hand shops?
why do some people assume that if you shop at second hand stores you automatically 'poor'? I love second hand stores! I guess just because it's 'used' makes it loose all of its original value.
Same with Walmart and Kmart.
Why do teens these days insist on name brand clothing?
Whats so wrong with shopping at these places? I honestly don't like clothing such as hollister, or abercrombie. They plaster their name on everything..

Re: Where are the second hand shops?
Espoo has some excellent second hand stores.
Akseli, in Mankkaa, is an upscale type of consigment store. You can find almost anything in there.
The Vermo swapmeet at the Vermo racetrack is very large and diverse - but only runs in the Summer months. You can find amazing bargains there.
There's a new children's clothing/toys consignment type of shop in the Lansikeskus above the Tarjoustalo. Very clean and well presented.
The usual thrift stores abound: Lahetystori (which is getting very expensive) in Tapiola and the Kierratyskeskus over by Iso Omena are excellent stores as well.

As this is in the "family" section, second hand clothes and other supplies for babies and small children can be found in sale events. For example this one, tomorrow morning in Espoo (Toppelundintie 15)is popular: http://tapiola.mll.fi/kirpputorit/
Re: Where are the second hand shops?
Good 2nd hand children's clothes shops / flea markets are
Piilo in Vuosaari/Aurinkolahti, address Leikosaarentie 21 00990 Helsinki. Open Tue-Fri 10-18, Sat-Sun 12-16
Vekarakirppis in Kumpula, very close to Arabia area, address Intiankatu 20 00560 Helsinki. Open Tue-Fri 10-17, Sat-Sun 10-14.
These are also good places to sell (you can rent a table for a week), especially American kid's clothes sell really well

Re: Where are the second hand shops?
Valtteri is the biggest flea market open during the winter, open during the day Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Good finds especially on Wednesdays, close to closing time (if enough sellers). http://www.kirpputori.com/valtteri
Hietalahti of course in the summer.
-Huuto.net can also be brilliant, especially for children´s clothing (packages)
there is also tori.fi and mikko.fi
For sports equipment, fantastic especially for skates:

Another great place although not a second handstore is www.kuinoma.fi (like own.fi). You can rent lots of stuff on a day rate from the owners. Fantastic when you need something random for just a day or two.
Best Vintage store is Play It Again, Sam. See also: http://www.helsinki.fi/en/index/matkail ... pping.html

Re: Where are the second hand shops?
Can I also sell my own second hand stuff there? I stay near by Tapiola, the ones are closer would be better.

Near Tapiola, in Mankkaa, in the K-Supermarket there is Akseli-selfservice fleamarket.... You can sell your own stuff there. Don't know about the costs though. Should be affordable anyway.
