No, you should arrange your own funding. May be for your thesis you can join some lab and may be they pay you some stipend or salary.

r32,

when you say "financial aid" are you perhaps referring to the KELA student grant? If they are entitled to it in the first place, then yes, students can usually also apply for it for Master's level studies abroad (provided that it's a recognised institution that offer the programme and they're full-time degree studies). But as you know the KELA student grant is not targeted to cover tuition fees, only everyday living expences. It won't take you very far in paying tuition fees... (there's no extra allowance for those)

See the KELA pages for detailed info...

Scholarships and other such grants are another bag of worms. Not many grants are available for Master's studies in Finland (only perhaps for those Master's that charge tuition fees from non-EU students, and then the scholarships would be for these non-EU students only). Some possibilities in the Erasmus Mundus Master's programmes... as for Master's studies abroad, depends on the country and your nationality I'd say.

Sorry, yes Kela student grant. I was expecting that they won't pay any extra tuition but at least it's good if they cover the basic allowance. At least it's something, which is always a plus...

I haven't found any info on Kela's webpage about the Master's programmes...

I don't think it really matters if it's a Bachelor's or Master's (or even Doctorate). The studies just need to be offered by a recognised institution, and they need to be full-time degree studies. KELA does not have any "separate" study grants for undergraduates and Master's level students.

If one already has received student grant from KELA for, say, a Bachelor's, this may affect the eligibility or at least the amount of further financial aid.

If you're considering a Master's outside Finland, then there are some further rules that may apply to you, depending on your nationality & residency status in Finland - see this

Yes, probably you are right about the the eligibility because at the moment I am getting financial aid for a Bachelor's.
I have to go and ask them what are the rules, they should be able to answer ... hope so :D

Kela gives support in for studying in recogniced institutions for a maximum amount of time in study months. As Sammy said, you can use the finanical aid for Bachelor, Master and Doctoral studies, but after your have exhausted the maximum amount of months, there is no money. The support is subject to satisfactory progress in your studies.

Yup, 70 is the max. You probably cannot use all of them to one degree, unless you are good at inventing excuses.
Mikäli sinut on valittu suorittamaan vain ylempää tai alempaa korkeakoulututkintoa (yleensä kandidaatin tai maisterin tutkinto), määräytyvät enimmäistukikuukaudet seuraavasti:
* 90 opintopisteen ylempi korkeakoulututkinto ulkomaalaisille: 24 tukikuukautta
* 120 opintopisteen yleisin ylempi korkeakoulututkinto: 28 tukikuukautta
* 150 opintopisteen psykologian tai musiikin ylempi korkeakoulututkinto: 33 tukikuukautta
* 180 opintopisteen alempi korkeakoulututkinto (paitsi kuvataiteen kandidaatin tutkinto) taikka lääketieteen tai eläinlääketieteen ylempi korkeakoulututkinto: 37 tukikuukautta
* 210 opintopisteen kuvataiteen kandidaatin tutkinto: 42 tukikuukautta
Ammattikorkeakoulut Opintotukikuukausien määrä riippuu suoritettavan tutkinnon laajuudesta.

* 180 opintopisteen laajuiseen tutkintoon 37 tukikuukautta
* 210 opintopisteen laajuiseen tutkintoon 42 tukikuukautta
* 240 opintopisteen laajuiseen tutkintoon 46 tukikuukautta
* 270 opintopisteen laajuiseen tutkintoon 51 tukikuukautta

So, basically it's posible to get financial aid also for the Master's degree..
If I take my case, I will use around 2 years for my Bachelor's studies, so I still have plenty left...

Of course, bachelors is mere step to masters here, not the goal, just a mandatory checkpoint that has no real meaning in itself.
