Tattoo Translation help please

Looking to translate a quote from english to Finnish for a tattoo. "Pain is inevitable - Suffering is optional" I translated it on google but not sure if its right. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thank You!!!!

Hmmm...maybe...I wonder if, kipu, might be a better choice to indicate, "pain" and tuska, which is a word borrowed from Russian, for "suffering"... I think, kipu might indicate the immediate issue; and tuska, the ongoing state.....but let's wait to see what the native speakers have to say....

...And for the grammar "pedantikot"....Se voi olla ärsyttävää, tuskallista, sietämätöntä tai jopa nautinnollista. seems to be a nice, straight forward example of a Finnish copular sentence...
Se equals kipu; the verb phrase, voi olla is the linking element; and the adjectives following...all in the partitive, singular... the subject complement.....

Sounds fine, except I would say "Tuska on väistämätöntä, kärsimys on valinnaista."

To me tuska is more than kipu. Tuska is agony, and it can also be abstract.

If someone is tortured s/he first feels "kipu", later on it becomes "tuska".

And then there is "särky", something in between.
