Dear Forum,
I am a British researcher and just moved here with my boyfriend. I have residency and social security as I have a grant from a Finnish research foundation. I'm also a qualified language teacher and am learning Finnish.
I'd like advice on the possibility to do some volunteer work in the Helsinki area. I originally thought about volunteer language teaching, but after reading several TEFL-related posts, that seems unlikely (I guess there are no reading schemes etc...?) Would anyone have any ideas about volunteering for English-speakers? Any sort of community activity would be great. The main idea being to integrate and meet people while adding an extra to my CV.
Thanks for any advice,
Ltv

Re: Volunteering
you could try International Evangelical Church in Kamppi, there is always lots going on there, Finnish courses, cooking classes, just talking to people would be greatly appreciated, if you want to know more drop me a line or try their website which is: church.fi
