Part-time job question

Post by ailema4ever » Mon Jun 21, 2010 12:39 am

OK, my questions may be silly but I just want to make sure...so bear with me...

If someone gets a part-time summer job in Finland and the job contract is only for 3 months - BUT they say that it MAY continue later (logically thinking they'd write down a new job contract, right?), what if that person gets a full-time job before that 3 month period is over? Of course the person will definitely start working in the new place after the end of the first job contract...but I just wanna know if that person has the right to do that or not? If so, when does that person have to tell the part-time job employers about the new job contract in another place?

MANY THANKS for the help!

Fixed term contract is not feasible to terminate by wish of one end unless mutually agreed. You just wait until contract is expired. You may consider free mounds contract as the contract with notice time of free months.

I don't understand what you mean about free mounds contract, finlandforumuser. And I'm not going to terminate my fixed-term contract. What I wanna know if it's legal to accept a full-time job contract that starts AFTER that fixed-term contract is over - even if one gets the full-time job contract is done prior to the end of the fixed-term job contract.

As we are talking a part time summer job, I guess it is safe to assume no non-competition clauses would apply. It's no business of the first employer otherwise what you will to after the first contract has expired. Feel free to accept any offer (or sign papers) for a new work, if the starting time is after the end of the older contract.
