A word of thanks:)

Post by Rosilla » Fri Jun 25, 2010 4:00 pm

I just wanted to thank everyone here who has been most helpful to me these last few days I have been here 8) everyone has been most kind (well for the most part) and the help I have received here has been invaluable for me as I am not able to find the majority of things I need from Canada...

I have already done (or started) many of the things I thought I would only be able to do in Finland. And it has been a most enjoyable experience for me... The people on this forum really do go above and beyond what I expected from a forum... And I do not think I would have been able to do it without your help:)

well, I will be back later on today for a short bit before I go to my own Juhannus celebration here in Canada for the weekend, and I will be back on monday and tuesday before my trip to Helsinki officially starts...

Im off to go get my passport now, and get ready for the celebrations (I will show you some pics on Monday of how we do Juhannus here in Canada)

Enjoy your weekend and remember to stay safe and have fun;)

Oh.. I miss Canada so much. However, in Toronto right now there's chaos with the G8 and G20 Summit.
I asked my family to steer clear of downtown. Have great holidays.

lol, the one good thing for me about the 2.1 Billion dollars spent on the G8/G20 Summit, is it took me about 5 mins in the passport office to get my application done  on Friday it was a total ghost town downtown, I think the police outnumbered the pedestrians when I was down there, not a car between Bay st and University, kind of eerie for me on a Friday morning... and immediatly after I got out of town up north to one of the only Finn cottage communities close to T.O., we had a wonderful Juhannus celebration with fun for all...

I hope everyone had a safe and sound weekend full of fun and celebrations:)

Awesome! Was it in Aurora or Newmarket area?
I know there's quite a lot of Finns up there, and East of Yonge along Eglinton and so.
Milbree Viking Deli is around that area. Only place in Toronto where you can get
some Finnish mustard, sadly, it was Turun Sinappi, not Auran :P
But they have karelian pies, Geisha chocolates, etc. Even salmiakki.

I know traffic was blocked in a lot of areas in Toronto. I just never expected things to
escalate the way they did. Glad you got your documents in a breeze.

25 mins or so, North East of Newmarket... Its possibly the biggest Finnish Campground in Ontario(maybe even Canada), now of course getting permits for the bonfire is a huge hassle (not like the old days) not much at all has changed there at all...

And I know what you mean about Eglinton between the Ossuspankki and the Soumi Koti (and my docs office downstairs) we are making quite a statement there;) I wonder if I knew you here? lol
