luxury picnic catering in Helsinki?

Post by interleukin » Mon Jul 05, 2010 12:22 pm

Hi all,

am considering a picnic for ca 6 people in a couple of weeks on a Friday afternoon to celebrate a happy occasion. We could make our own picnic baskets with yummy foods and wines, but I was thinking if you know of any restaurants/cafes/companies that do such picnic catering? It should really be something a bit above the normal standards, think Stockmann and not Siwa. I don´t even know if there is anyone doing picnic basket caterings, just thought I would ask around. If you have some good tips or places to avoid, that would be great too. Sitting in a cafe/restaurant in a great location instead of picnic could be an option, but I would prefer to see if the picnic thing works out.

thanks in advance,
interleukin

There was a picnic basket comparison in HS about a month ago. Maybe it is in their net version? About half a dozen baskets, also Stockmann´s. It didn´t win, the winner was some quite unlikely participant, I just don´t remember what it was. And some high end restaurant (Savoy? Palace?) lost the competition.

Having read the review it seems you'd be better off putting together your own picnic basket. Not as convenient, of course, but easily with better contents.
