scientific dictionnary

Post by vincebel » Sat Jul 31, 2010 10:46 am

Hi all. Does someone know if a english finnish scientific dictionnary exist? especially botanics? I can find most of the words in a normal dictionnary but they dont mean at all what i expect. I guess its a way too specific language.

Thanks.

For some who knows what i talk about its a plant determination key. So if i dont understand the first step im stuck.
I have the same kind of book in french (mother tongue) but its a book for french flora so doesnt help me for the finiish flora

anyway...

or if someone knows a determination key for the finish flora in english that would be a dream

Haven't seen one myself, but you could contact (for example) the University of Helsinki dept. of Applied Biology - http://www.mm.helsinki.fi/mmsbl/english/index.htm - or General Plant Biology http://www.helsinki.fi/biosciences/plan ... /index.htm - they'd probably know if such special botanics dictionaries exist, and where to find them. (Such dictionaries might be published by universities themselves, in book or even monograph format... they're not necessarily 'publicly' available in bookshops). Good luck, S

The MOT dictionary we have has Enteka

http://www.kielikone.fi/en/product+page ... ductID=516

which contains scientific / technical / engineering terms. It´s way more useful than the standard MOT.
