Anybody applied for Finnish citizenship in 2009 and got it?
Hi,
I am wondering whether anybody applied for Finnish citizenship(naturalization) in 2009 and has received a decision during 2010.
I applied for Finnish citizenship in January 2009, Migri got it in February 2009, and it is still in the queue.

No they didn't request any additional clarification.
On migri page there is a definition of clearly positive cases, mine should fall within them :
- I Have a national passport
-I Have been living in Finland for 11 years (A status permit for 9 years)
-I Have been working for 11 years in Finland. Basically from the second day I landed in Finland
-I Have paid taxes in every month of the 11 years( have been all the time employed)
-I Have language certificate (level 4)
-I Have never committed a crime
-I Have paid all my invoices
-I filled all the necessary fields when submitted the application
-I attached all needed documents
-I have two university degrees ( though this is not a requirement)
submitted the application in the very beginning of 2009.
Just wondering ....

In June 2010, the processing of following applications has started
* Holders of passports:
o clearly positive: applications that arrived at Migri between January 2009 and January 2010
o others: applications that arrived at Migri in November 2008
so you probably might hear from them in the next two months.

You are right, I have just received a mail from Migri asking for further clarification:
1. All my trips abroad AFTER Migri received my application till today!
2. My last salary slip (certificate)
I have not traveled much just about 5-6 weeks a year.
I have been all the time employed, and at the time of application (18 months ago) I did submit a work certificate from my company and my last salary certificate.
Anybody with similar experience?

A national passport is a passport issues by the authority of your own home country. Not a refugee passport, or alien passportrob34 wrote:What is a "national" passport?

imho they probably just want to check that you haven't left the country permanently after submitting your application. Having the last salary slip verifies any info you give them about travel because it shows the taxes you've been paying._moonlight_ wrote:You are right, I have just received a mail from Migri asking for further clarification:

There was another thread where they asked the applicant to clarify his work situation after he applied.

Difficult to say why. All that information should actually be readily available to them via tax office. To my understanding during the process of the application, they ask for that kind of information from the tax office and other authorities, so why double checking?

You're right. Looking at the Nationality act, it says that they can access the register for
information from the operational data system of the Border Guard;
information from the register of fines; and
information on the income and assets of taxpayers and other information on taxation from the information systems of the Tax Administration
which makes a person wonder, if they have all that info available then why do they ask for it??!! If they can access the Border Guard data system then they should see if a person's been absent a long time. It really is difficult to understand the processing.

Are you guys dense? They want to see if the stories match with their facts. If they find a discrepancy...

Doesn't make sense. It's not a psycological test, if there was anything that prevents citizenship they could see it from the registers without the need to wait and see if the applicant will tell them about it or not! What if the applicant accidentally forgot to mention something that doesn't affect his eligibility, what do they do?!! tell him oh we have other information you didn't mention so we'll have to reject!!!Pursuivant wrote:Are you guys dense? I thought for a second there was maybe some form of documentation in Finland that I'd never heard of.

Of course they do. I don't think they make a decision solely based on the information you provide without checking its truth and validityUpphew wrote:They can but will they?desert nomad wrote:You're right. Looking at the Nationality act, it says that they can access the register for..
